At the 2009 Brit Awards they received the Brit Awards “Critics’ Choice” award. The band’s music is renowned for its dramatic and eccentric production and also Welch’s powerful vocal performances.

On December 7, 2015, the band received 5 nominations for the 58th Annual Grammy Awards to be held in 2016. These nominations included “Ship to Wreck” for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful for Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Recording Package, and “What Kind of Man” for Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song.
