The Biloxi Shuckers are a minor league baseball team based in Biloxi, Mississippi. The team is the Double-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers and is a member of the Southern League. The team replaces the Huntsville Stars in the Southern League.
On April 2, 2016, the Shuckers will host an exhibition game against their parent-club, the Milwaukee Brewers. This will be the first time the Brewers will play in Biloxi and the first time a Major League team has played in Biloxi since the 1935 Washington Senators held spring training at Biloxi Stadium.
The team name was chosen via a fan vote in November 2014. Other finalists were the Beacon, Mullets, Black Jacks, Schooners, and Shrimpers. The name “Shuckers” celebrates Biloxi’s heritage as a center for the oyster and seafood industries.
